On 3 and 4 June 2026, the European potato community gathered in Brussels, Belgium, for the Europatat Congress 2026, one of the key annual meeting points for the potato sector in Europe and beyond.

Organised by Europatat, the event brought together around 90 participants, including seed potato and ware potato traders, as well as representatives from across the potato value chain. The Congress provided an important platform to discuss the current state of the potato sector, exchange views on common challenges, and highlight priorities for the future of potato production and trade.

As part of the event, the POMATO project was presented to Europatat members as one of the important initiatives in which the association is involved. The project’s objectives are closely linked to Europatat’s ongoing work on plant health, which remains one of the major challenges for the entire potato sector.

Through a dedicated POMATO roll-up and the distribution of project leaflets, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the project’s main objectives, expected outcomes, and consortium partners. In total, 90 leaflets were distributed during the event, supporting the dissemination of POMATO among relevant stakeholders from the potato value chain.

POMATO aims to contribute to healthier and more sustainable potato and tomato production by developing innovative solutions for the prevention, detection, and management of bacterial diseases. Presenting the project at Europatat Congress 2026 was therefore an excellent opportunity to reach key target groups, including conventional and organic potato growers, as well as retailers, wholesalers, and distributors.

By engaging with Europatat members and other sector representatives, POMATO continues to strengthen its visibility within the European potato community and support knowledge exchange with stakeholders who play an important role in the future of sustainable potato production.
