POMATO presented at Jožef Stefan Open Days in Slovenia

April 6, 2026

On 28 March 2026, POMATO was presented during the Jožef Stefan Open Days, held at the Reactor Centre of the Jožef Stefan Institute in Brinje, Slovenia. The event provided an excellent opportunity to bring project activities closer to the general public, media representatives, and visitors interested in science, research, and innovation.

The Jožef Stefan Open Days are designed to open the doors of research facilities to a wider audience and showcase the work carried out by scientists and research teams. As part of this event, the POMATO project was represented by the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) team, including Aleš Lapanje, Maja Zugan, Dmitrii Deev, and Tomaž Rijavec.

During the event, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about POMATO’s work and its contribution to healthier potato and tomato crops. The project focuses on developing knowledge and solutions to help address harmful bacterial pathogens, supporting more sustainable approaches to crop protection and plant health.

The activity contributed to the dissemination of POMATO results and ongoing work, particularly in relation to project activities connected with WP2, WP4, and WP6

With around 250 visitors, the event reached local, regional, and national audiences, including members of the general public and media. It was a valuable occasion to raise awareness about the importance of plant health research, sustainable agriculture, and the role of collaborative European projects in addressing challenges affecting food production.

Participation in the Jožef Stefan Open Days reflects POMATO’s commitment to sharing knowledge beyond the scientific community and engaging with wider society.
