Sharing innovation for resilient and regenerative food systems in Idanha-a-Nova

On 5 December 2025, Food4Sustainability (F4S) participated on-site in i-Danha Food Lab 2025 in Idanha-a-Nova (Portugal) – an event celebrating innovation, sustainability, and the role of territories in the transition toward more resilient and regenerative food systems.

F4S was represented by Natalia Sierra, Gabriel Távora, and Margarida Palma, engaging with a diverse national audience of more than 50 participants.

A meeting point for farmers, innovators, and researchers

i-Danha Food Lab brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including potato and tomato growers (conventional and organic), input-related industry, research and academic institutions, and technology and innovation sector.

This mix created a valuable setting for exchanging ideas and connecting practical farming needs with research and innovation approaches.

A key objective of F4S participation was to present the POMATO project to this varied stakeholder community – introducing its goals and encouraging interest in future engagement.

Why events like this matter

Innovation in food systems does not happen in isolation. It depends on strong local ecosystems where farmers, researchers, industry, and innovators can meet, exchange experiences, and identify opportunities to collaborate. Events such as i-Danha Food Lab help accelerate that process – connecting regional initiatives with national and European projects working on sustainable solutions.

F4S will continue building visibility for POMATO in Portugal and strengthening connections with growers and stakeholders interested in plant health, sustainable production, and resilient farming systems.
