POMATO Newsletter – Issue #1 (July 2025)

The POMATO project has officially launched! This four-year Horizon Europe initiative unites 16 partners from Europe and Latin America to develop sustainable, nature-based solutions for controlling Clavibacter sepedonicus and Ralstonia solanacearum in potato and tomato crops. These pathogens threaten yields, trade, and food security, especially under climate change.

Highlights from this issue:

  • Kick-off Meeting (May 13–14, Burgos, Spain): Partners aligned on goals and began collaborative research.

  • International Day of Potato (May 27, Brussels): POMATO showcased its work to policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.

  • Europatat Congress 2025 (June 11–13, Lille, France): The project gained visibility among over 120 potato sector representatives.
