Institute Jožef Stefan is the largest public institute in Slovenia performing research in biology, chemistry and physics. Activities in POMATO project are coordinated by the Laboratory for Colloid Biology from the Department of Environmental Sciences, hosting biologists, chemists and geoscientists. The group studies microbial communities in different environments and is dealing with ecological and physiological aspects of microbes in relation to their hosts

Characterisation of natural plant-related microbiota, preparation of formulations of bacterial consortia with plant protective characteristics. Development of artificial consortia to be scaled up and applied in plant experiments in laboratory and field stage.

“Harnessing the power of plant-microbe interactions to revolutionize sustainable agriculture and enhance crop resilience.”

Meet our Partners

Led by the University of Burgos, POMATO brings together 16 partners from top universities, research organizations, SMEs, agrochemical companies, and farmers. Our international partners from regions severely affected by Cs/Rs, like Colombia and Ecuador, ensure that we exchange best practices and adapt solutions to different farming environments.
