Led by the University of Burgos, POMATO is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project dedicated to safeguarding potato and tomato crops by tackling two major plant pathogens: Clavibacter sepedonicus and Ralstonia solanacearum.
POMATO unites 16 partners from 8 European countries (Spain, Poland, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium) and 2 Latin American countries (Colombia and Ecuador). The partnership includes academic research organizations (4 universitites and 5 RTOs), 2 agrochemical SMEs for scale-up and validation, 3 agricultural associations working closely with farmers, 1 innovation SME developing next-generation devices and 1 communication SME responsible for dissemination, exploitation, and stakeholder engagement. The consortium represents a robust and interdisciplinary team of experts spanning plant pathology, molecular biology, AI, crop diagnostics, natural bio-control solutions, and policy outreach.
